This week I have again been shooting some product photography for Becky Morgans Jewellery. Becky makes exquisite hand made jewellery which she sells online from her own website and from etsy.com. Her jewellery has an asymmetrical, organic look with an elegant touch. Much of her jewellery utilises sea glass which she finds while walking along beaches.
Because the items are so small, macro photography was required. Macro photography makes keeping the object being photographed in focus very difficult as the depth of field is very, very small. To overcome this a system of ‘stacking’ images is used. This involves taking lots of photos of the same object, changing the focus point of each picture and then merging them together at the point of focus for each one and producing one photo with the whole object in focus.
